Edmiston, Calvin, Benjamin Jr., 77, formerly of Utica, NY, died May 15, 2022, at Laurel View Village in Davidsville. Born June 12, 1944, in Johnstown, son of the late Calvin Benjamin Sr. and Athalene (Hofecker) Edmiston. Survived by wife Cheryl (Stoner) Edmiston and children, Dr. Dawn Edmiston-Strasser and Dr. Christopher Strasser of Somerset; and Michelle Lee (Edmiston) Richards of Richland Township. “Ben” was a 1962 graduate of Laurel Valley High School. He received his bachelor’s degree with an ROTC scholarship from Washington & Jefferson College. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel after 27 years of service. He also had a distinguished 30-year career as senior investigator for the New York State Office of the Attorney General. Ben and his wife, Cheryl, met at Camp Harmony and were married at the Arbutus Church of the Brethren. They celebrated 57 years of marriage and loved to cruise and travel internationally. Ben’s love of cooking was enjoyed by all that knew him, and the local paper recognized him as Chef of the Month. He enjoyed working in the yard, reading, listening to stories on CD, and wine tasting in the Finger Lakes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hope Lodge (11432 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland, OH 44106), where Ben was supported during his cancer treatments.
