Krupa, Carmelina Rita (Pappas), 72, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 7, 2020, at Conemaugh Medical Center, after an extended illness. Born on December 27, 1947, in Brownstown, PA, to the late Assunta and Theodore Pappas. Preceded in death by husband of 45 years, John J. Krupa; parents; and sisters, Anna Catherine Sekerski and Theodora Pappas, all of Johnstown, PA.

Survived by sister, Mary Borkow, and brother, Theodore Pappas of Johnstown; sons, Jay (Jess), Johnstown and John (Julie), Altoona; four grandchildren, Chad Michael, Courtney Krupa, Mckenzie Krupa, and Abigail Krupa; two step-grandchildren, Tyler Albert and Trenton Albert; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great niece.

After graduating from Ferndale High School in 1966, Rita and John made their home in Johnstown where they raised their family. She worked over 35 years as an operating room technician at both Mercy & Conemaugh Hospitals. Co-workers remember Rita’s humor and heartfelt camaraderie.

Rita’s loving generosity manifested in her kitchen which was the hub of the family Christmas Eve gathering for decades. Stopping by there was always fresh coffee, gobs, little Cokes, and more candy than anyone could possibly eat. Football season would find her armed with her Terrible Towel avidly supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers. Off-season, she enjoyed attending musicals with her husband, John, and with her granddaughters. Her family was always her top priority and giving to them was her greatest joy.

The immediate family will hold a private graveside service at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rita’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Cambria County, cambriacountyhumanesociety.com. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
