FURMAN – Casimir J., (“Jim,” “C. J.”) 76, of Johnstown, died unexpectedly on January 16, 2016 at home. Born October 24, 1939, in Johnstown, son of the late Valentine and Sophie (Kwarta) Furman. Preceded in death by his wife Patricia A. (Rebar) Furman whom he married on June 22, 1968. Survived by loving children, Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Smith and husband, Jerry, of Johnstown; Joseph V. Furman and wife, Kristen(O’Donnell), of Davidsville; grandchildren, Devin Michael and Courtney Elizabeth Smith, and Zoey Valentine Furman; his siblings, Henry Furman (Josephine), Louis Furman, Leona Furman, Edward Furman (Mary Claire), Ann Marie Furman, all of whom reside in Johnstown; sisters-in-law, Angela Furman of Media, PA, Mary Louise Mical, Christine Rebar; brother-in-law, Robert (Carol) Rebar, all of Johnstown. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Walter and Carl, two infant brothers, in-laws, Joseph and Pauline Rebar, brothers-in-law, Joseph Rebar, Jr. and Edward Mical, and sister-in-law, Anna Marie Kane. Casimir was a 1957 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School and a 1962 graduate of Alliance College. He was employed as a freight inspector for Railroad Perishable Inspection Agency and later Conrail, retiring after 37 years. He was a member of St. Casimir Society, CFU and Union Social Club. Friends received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 146 Chandler Ave. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Therese of The Child of Jesus, Rev. Bernard Karmanocky, officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Casimir Cemetery.
