Raney, Charles Ray, Ebensburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday May 11, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Charles was born in Mt Vernon, IL on July 14, 1948. He attended Mt Vernon Twp. High School before entering the Air Force and serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the service he married his high school sweetheart, Alicia Elaine Keller. They had two boys, Michael Eugene and Kevin Wayne. After the military, he worked at Joy Mfg., which led to his relocating to PA. He settled in Homer City, where his boys were soon to follow. Later he became a long haul truck driver which he loved. He could see the country and return to Mt Vernon often to visit family and friends. Charles was a member of the local VFW in Ebensburg. He enjoyed roller skating and playing basketball; softball and darts. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Steelers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alicia Elaine; father, John Henry Raney and mother, Doris June Raney, all of Mt Vernon. He is survived by his two sons, Michael Eugene and partner, Barry Shirley, Homer City; Kevin Wayne and partner, Jane Meagher and their children, Lily; Elaine and Kyle, all of Homer City; sister, Gloria Mae, Mt Vernon; brother, Frank Raney and wife, Andrea, Clovis, CA and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A private service for the immediate family will be held. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Disabled American Veterans.
