Aubrey, Charlotte Goodwin, 91, Johnstown, died August 5, 2019 at Windber Hospice. Born October 8, 1927 to the late Martin and Marie (Brewton) Goodwin. Preceded in death by husband, Raimonde Aubrey; sister, Martha Adams; and grandson, Griffin Lucas Aubrey. Survived by children, Adrienne Aubrey Moldow, Johnstown; Angela Duckworth (Dennis), OH; Martin Aubrey (Cynthia), CO; grandchildren, Collyn and Colton Aubrey; Megan Hedden; Lacey Moldow; a niece; and nephews. Charlotte was a graduate of Valdosta State University and completed postgraduate studies at UPJ and IUP. She taught for 35 years in the Richland School District and was the president of the Johnstown Symphony Auxiliary for 9 years. For 50 years, Charlotte was the soloist at First Lutheran Church on Vine St. and a private voice teacher for 60 years with her husband. Together they taught many outstanding students. She starred at the Mountain Playhouse in Jennerstown where she performed many leading roles and performed as a soloist with the Johnstown Symphony with one of her most memorable performances being “Carmen”. Charlotte was the honoree in arts and letters in the YWCA 2007 Tribute to Woman. Her life passions were her many gifts relating to music; her singing, mentoring of students to be their very best, developing the whole person and doing it with “vim, vigor, and vitality”. She was a force to be reckoned with and had many endearing names, “The diva of Johnstown”, Mrs. A, and Mom. There will be no other like her. Sing with the angels, Mama. A private celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
