Goetz, Corinne [Starks], 82, Johnstown, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021. She is survived by Norman Goetz, her husband of 26 years; children: Alicia (Kevin McCarthy) Wright, Wellington, New Zealand; Coral (Dale) Yahnert, Johnstown, PA; Morgan (Linda) Wright, Shelton, WA; Tressa Wright-Jones, Augusta, GA.; Grandchildren: Travis, Hannah, O’Rando, Drew, Liam, K.C and Teddy; Great Grandchildren: Audriela, Gabriel and Lily Rose.
Born in Sops Island, Newfoundland in 1939, to Walter and Lily W. (Quinton)Starks, Corinne was fiercely proud of her Newfoundland heritage. From a family of nine brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by Clarice Bradley Decker, Honoria Courtney, Seavey, Walter and Hazen Starks and is fondly remembered by Sophie Bruce, Victoria, BC; Hope Squires, St. Philips, NF; Connie (Bob) Smallwood, Fredrickton, NB; Dexter (Bing) Starks, Winnipeg, MB and Gertrude Starks, Mississauga, ON.
Corinne was a lifelong and active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, serving as the church secretary for 17 years and on a myriad of committees including the vestry. Always active in the community including the Scottish Heritage Society, Conemaugh Township PTA and Richland Community Center. Corinne was an excellent card and game player, and many fun nights were spent with family and friends playing scrabble, nines, and progressive rummy.
At her request, memorial services will be held later in the year at St. Marks and in Newfoundland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
