Obituary

Matten, David F., 80, Johnstown, passed away March 15, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Born January 10, 1938 to the late Frank Matten and Julia Bryan. Preceded in death by sister, Phyllis Beidle. Survived by wife of 57 years, Fay (Overdorff) Matten; daughters, Monica Pearce (David); Lari Locher (Vince); Tracy Tomljanovic; siblings, Ernestine Law (Thomas); Francis Matten (Janet); Jeffrey Matten (James); Paula Matten; grandchildren, Nathan, Benton, and Thomas Pearce; Christian Locher (Emily); Alex Locher (fiancé Alli Behr); Laura and Abby Locher; Mack and Sam Tomljanovic; and numerous nieces and nephews. David served in the Airforce from 1955-1959 and retired from Penelec after 34 years of service. He was an active member at Calvary United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for 52 years. David was an avid gardener and loved working with plants. Friends will be received Sunday March 18 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Pastor Matthew Williams, officiating.
