Cook, David K., 83, Fishertown, formerly of Johnstown, passed away May 6, 2019 at Windber Woods. Preceded in death by parents, Melvin and Jane (Dillinger) Cook; and nephew, Patrick Schaffer Jr. Survived by sister and caregiver, with whom David resided with, Cheryl Schaffer; sister, Susan Cole; special niece, who was always by David’s side, Carolyn Blough married to Rick, and her son, Jeremy Martin, who for years gave David his daily head bops that he loved; also Kayla and Jake Blough and John Martin Jr.; niece, Julie Kopoch and boyfriend Dave Nelson and children, Troy Wills, Alyssa McAdams, Samantha, Robert, and Zack Nelson; niece, Holly Morris and children, Joseph and Hannah Morris; niece, Sue Spisak married to Michael and children, Michael, Heather, and Emily; long-time friend and fishing buddy, Ken Froehlich; and brother in law, Vince Schaffer. David was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, country and gospel music, picnics, and Carolyn’s golden retriever, Levi. David was a living example of the poem The Dash by Linda Ellis, as he lived a kind and loving life. Friends will be received Monday May 13 from 2-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., where a service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
