Varner, David Lee, 56, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023, at Maple Heights Health and Rehab Center (formerly Cambria Care Center). Born November 26, 1966, in Johnstown. Preceded in death by mother, Shirley (Law) Varner. He is survived by his four loving siblings, Barb Hynes (Terry); Robert “Mickey” Varner (Terry); Rodney Varner (Tina); and Susan Varga (Joe); niece and nephews, Bria Jones (Josh); Christopher Varner; Tyler Varner; Joshua Varga (Ellen); Matthew Varga (Jessie); and Zachary Varga (Emily); great niece and nephews, Nora, Jackson, Carter, Troy, and Luca; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones that he called his “brothers” and “sisters”. David attended Vinco Center School and was a longtime employee of Goodwill. He also was a regular attendee at Camp PARC, a summer camp where he captivated audiences with his dancing and harmonica solos. David loved his family, friends, the Pittsburgh Steelers, WWE wrestling, dancing at weddings, classic TV, horror movies, and a good meal. To know David was to know unconditional love and friendship. Never shy about expressing his affection with a hug or kiss, Dave touched hearts everywhere he went. He was known as “Uncle Dave” to many over the years because meeting him once meant you were part of his family forever. During his time with us, Dave spread more smiles, laughs, and good memories than can be counted. Whether it was the fishing adventures with his brothers and cousins, the travel memories with his sisters and brothers, his on-going prank battle with “Joe Green”, or his musical performances at family gatherings, Dave always brought people together and created smiles. He showed us the best there can be in all of us by loving completely, accepting all, and finding joy in the small things. Family will receive friends Tuesday August 1st from 11 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12:30 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 228 Blaine St., Johnstown. Pastor Denise Todero, officiating. Committal to follow at Richland Cemetery. The family would like to thank the 4th floor staff at Maple Heights for the excellent care and compassion provided to Dave during his stay. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
