Lewis, Deloris Elaine, 82, of Benshoff Hill, went to be with the Lord February 13, 2015 at her home. Deloris was born on October 22, 1932, the daughter of the late Elsie and Clifton Covalt.  She was married for 51 years to the late William H. Lewis of Johnstown.  Deloris is survived by her children, Bill and wife Kim, Richmond, VA; Gary and wife Marcia, Johnstown; Ed, and wife Charlene, Stafford, VA; and Darlene Lewis of Johnstown.  Deloris is also survived by grandchildren, Jeromy (Claire) Lewis, Deidra, Brittany, Lauren, Megan and Matthew; siblings, Jim Covalt and wife Marion “Toots”, Ron Covalt and wife Kathy all of Johnstown. Deloris graduated from Ferndale High School in 1950 and completed Windber Nurses Training School in 1953.  She had a rewarding career as a nurse from 1953-1994 at Windber Hospital and Lee Hospital in Johnstown.  She was a life-long member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren where she served on several committees and many outreach activities.  She was also a volunteer with Windber Hospice. Deloris’ compassionate, gentle and loving nature was bestowed upon all of those under her nursing care, her many long time friends and especially her family members who have flourished under her love.  Deloris loved the Lord with all her heart and lived faithfully according to His principles.  Her favorite Bible verse was “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.  Lean not unto your own understanding.  In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will guide your path.”  Proverbs 3:5-6. Friends will be received from 5-8 pm Monday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, Pastor Phillip King officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.  Burial at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.  Arrangements in charge of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc “Exclusive Provider of Veterans & Family Memorial Care”.  Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.
