Yoder, Derek Joseph, 24, entered into Heaven on September 22, 2020. Born January 19, 1996 to Joseph and Jennifer (Horner) Yoder. Preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Raymond “Dean” Yoder; maternal grandparents, Jay W. and Margaret (Houghton) Horner; and uncle, Ed Jackson. Survived by parents; sister, Rebecca Dubois; brother, Nathan Yoder; paternal grandmother, Marge (Baker) Yoder; aunt and uncles, Greg Horner (Denise); Michael Horner (Kathy); Bruce Horner (Pam); William Horner (Mary): Benjamin (Wendy); Sally Oldham (Chad); Don Yoder (Nancy); Sharon Jackson: Greg Yoder (Tracey); George Yoder; Annie (Doug); special cousins, Matthew, Meagan, Michelle, Laura, Brian, Tessa, Jesse, Amber, McKenzie, Dakota, Garrett, Ryan, Sarah, Mia, Ashley, Heather, Daniel, David, Ryan, John, Liam, and Kayleigh; and Derek’s special little buddies, Macey, Chloe, Wesley, and Dominic. Derek was a Forest Hills graduate, Vo Tech graduate in mechanics and construction, and attended Penn Highlands for a year. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was an Eagle Scout. He was a former employer at Fox’s Pizza and a recent employer of Pro Disposal. Derek was a truck guy; he loved his original red truck and more recently his new white truck. He enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, pool, track, gaming videos, and Anime Club. Derek was a member of Johnstown City League (baseball), Saint Michael American Legion Saints, and numerous bowling leagues at Richland Lanes. He also enjoyed golf, which he typically did on Sunday’s with his dad. Derek loved everyone, smiled all the time, and would do anything for anyone. He had a very big heart. Friends will be received Friday September 25 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., where additional viewing will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Procession and committal to follow at Dunmyer Cemetery.
