Ferretti – Dino John, 96, Spangler Street, Hastings died December 11, 2015, at home with his family. Born July 14, 1919 in Hastings Pa, son of Angela (Mantovani) and John Ferretti. Preceded in death by his wife, Minnie (Masserio) of 48 years, parents, brother Renato Ferretti, sister Ada Koval, brother-in-law Andy Koval, sister-laws and brother-laws; Margaret and Jim Masserio, Ann and Michael Farina, Della and Raymond Fletcher, Louise and Steve Smiach. Survived by, daughters and son-in-laws; Angela and David Shutty, Adele and Sam Piccioni, Julianne and Charles Bishop, son and daughter-in-law John and Diane Ferretti, Grandchildren; Matthew and Joy Shutty, Kristen and Brennen Sossong, Anthony and Courtney Piccioni, Alyssa and Doug Bodenschatz, Dominic Ferretti, and Carina Ferretti; Great Grandchildren, Caleb Shutty, Taylor Shutty, Elijah Sossong, Hailey Sossong, Jackson Sossong, Monroe Piccioni, and Kyle Bodenschatz, and blessed with a wealth of loving nieces and nephews. Dino was a member of St Bernard Church, a graduate of Penn State University in 1942 with a BS in Electrical Engineering, he served in the United States Army during WWII, participating in the Battle of the Philippines, and honorably discharged as a Signal Corps Captain in April 1953. Dino was the last surviving WWII veteran in Hastings. Dino was “ the “Official Pizza Maker” of Ferretti’s Dairy Bar. Family and Friends will be received at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, Hastings, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Sunday 12/13/15. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday 12/14/15 at St. Bernard Church. Father Thaddeus Rettger Officiating. Committal, St. Bernard Cemetery.
