Obituary

Haney, Donald R., 89, Johnstown, passed away March 16, 2018 at Church of the Brethren Home in Windber.  Born July 31, 1928 in Johnstown. Son of the late Harry and Kate Haney. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joyce G. (Ribblett) Haney; and his daughter Laura Laws. Survived by his daughters, Vivian M. Berkebile (Randy), Boswell; Shelby J. McHenry, Johnstown; Joyce E. Lehman (Scott), Green River, WY; Jill K. (Heider) Fitzpatrick, Greensburg; his grandchildren, Travis Heider, Corey Heider, Katie (Berkebile) Clark, Hilary Berkebile, Michael Laws, Jesse Laws, Devin Laws; great grandchildren Bailee J. Heider and Jacob M. Seese. Don proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, and was a  retired yard master for Conemaugh & Black Lick Railroad. When retired, he volunteered for the Johnstown Senior Center, delivering Meals on Wheels for over 15 years. He also served as President of the Ferndale Lions Club for several years. Dad was a faithful Christian, who for years thrilled many on Christmas Eve at Trinity United Methodist Church, singing O Holy Night in his beautiful Irish tenor voice. There is no doubt that he is now with Mom, and they are singing together in the heavenly choir.
