Donna M. (Strittmatter) Rusnak, of Hastings PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her six children, Jan. 11, 2016 at Conemaugh hospital. Born Feb. 1, 1932 in Hastings, daughter of the late Amandus and Mary (Bearer) Strittmatter. Preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, William (Bill) Rusnak (2011), twin brother, Donald (Bud) Strittmatter, and sisters Phyllis, Ruth, and Jeanne Marie. Survived by her six children, Marv (Joni), New Jersey; Maureen Drew, Hastings; Rod (Georgine), New York; Lora Lee (Jeff) Bertig, Indiana; Carolyn (Jim) Kline, Altoona; and Sharon Jamiolkowski, Mechanicsburg; and grandchildren, Matt, Jackie, Jack, Dustin, Leah, Corey, Melody, Brendan, Lauren, Nikki, Olivia, Logan, Julia, Josh, and Jake; also great-grandchildren, Kyle, Serafina, Layne, Bodhen, Kelen, Penelope, and Ayla. A lifelong Hastings resident, Donna was the St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church organist for more than 60 years, beginning her tenure at the organ as a teen. Donna enjoyed seeing her family prosper in numbers and always viewed her happy, healthy, and successful family as her greatest personal achievement. Her unselfish attitude and concern for the well-being of her family, immediate and extended, were her hallmarks.In addition to her dedication to her local St Bernard’s parish, Donna was an excellent seamstress, plying her craft during multiple stints at the local clothes factory. Her children all benefited from Donna’s skill with needle and thread. Friends received from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, Jan 15 2016 at Easly-Hindman funeral home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings, PA 16646.Funeral mass of Christian burial 11am Saturday, Jan 16 2016 at St Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, 148 Beaver St., Hastings, PA 16646. Visitation at church before the mass, to begin at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be contributed to Mom’s favorite charitable organization, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, in care of St Bernard’s Church, Hastings PA. Or, if you wish, donations may be made to the Paul and Catherine Mangarella Endowment Fund, in care of St Bernard’s Church, PO Box 497, Hastings PA 16646. This endowment helps fund support for St Bernard’s parish members. To each of you, as Mom was fond of closing her visits and talks with her kids, “Bye for now”!
