Polantz, Doris M., 92, Johnstown, died March 17, 2016 at Laurel Wood Care Center. Born March 31, 1923 to the late Homer and Mildred (Denison) Keefer. Preceded in death by brothers, Clyde and Donald Keefer; and son-in-law, Larry Hunter. Survived by children, Sandra (Thompson) Hunter, Windber; Joseph Polantz, (Joan), Johnstown; Mary Ann Polantz, Windber; Timothy Polantz, (Joanne Shortt), Johnstown; sister, Lois Kohler; grandchildren, Amy Thompson, Josh, Chad, and Katelyn Polantz; great grandson, Cameron Thompson; sister-in-law, Joann Keefer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris retired from Mercy Hospital’s finance department after 30 years, then devoted nearly the rest of her life to volunteering at Good Samaritan, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. She accumulated more than 9,000 hours of volunteer time until the age of 90. Doris was a charter member of Merho Federal Credit Union, which opened in 1972 with 100 members, and she was instrumental in bringing Merho’s mobile banking to Windber Hospital. She loved volunteering everywhere. Doris’ children were the most important part of her life. At Doris’ request there will be no viewing. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 16 at First Lutheran Church, Vine Street, Johnstown, the Rev.
