Anna, Edgar J. “Speed”, 91, St. Boniface, entered his heavenly home on August 22, 2018 at Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg. Born December 30, 1926 in St. Boniface, son of Wilfred and Anna (Thomas) Anna. Preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gerald, Robert, and Dan; his sisters, Mildred Bender, Mary Grace Strittmatter, and Florence Stoltz Jack. Survived by his wife Nancy whom he married on June 29, 1957; his children, Judy (Al) Daisley, Bonnie (Gary) Nagle, Linda (Joe) Kollar, and Kevin (Michelle Fox) Anna; Ten grandchildren, Briana (Sean) Zettlemoyer, Albert (Brittany) Daisley, Josh Daisley, Mitchell Nagle, Lindsey (David) Daisley, Amy Nagle, Cassandra (Steve) Barnosky, Samantha Kollar, Alyssa (Earl) Anna, Ali Anna; Great grandchildren, Jovie (Josie) and Levi Daisley, Canyon Daisley, and baby Barnosky due in February; his brothers, Richard and Dennis; sisters Kathleen Waksmunski, Connie Dubetsky and Linda Hoelman. Edgar is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members. Ed was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked in the mines for many years, and was co-owner of Kelly Coal Company. He was employed by Stoltz Motor Company as a mechanic for 20 years. He was an Elder Township Supervisor and auditor. He served as director of the Hastings Ambulance Association for 20 years, was a Democratic Committeeman, was on the Cemetery Association, Holy Name Association, he was a life member of the Cambria County Association of Township officials. He was the caretaker of his “second home” St. Boniface Church and Cemetery for over 60 years. He was a lifelong resident of St. Boniface. Ed loved cars, animals, and eating hamburgers. He enjoyed watching the Pirates, Steelers, and going to Altoona Curve games. He enjoyed gardening, making wine, beer, and sauerkraut, but the most important to him, was his family who he loved with all of his heart. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Cambria Care Center for all of their wonderful care, especially Deb (Donna), as well Grane hospice, and all of Ed’s friends who visited him. “Well done my good & faithful servant”. Friends and family will be received Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings. There will also be a time of Visitation on Monday August 27, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday August 27, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Boniface. Father Thaddeus Rettger Officiating. Interment will be at St. Boniface Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Hastings VFW Post # 1586. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ed’s memory to be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church, earmarked for St. Boniface Chapel fund.
