Obituary

Sandoval, Elizabeth Ann, 71, Johnstown, passed away Aug. 8, 2017 at her home. Born Dec. 7, 1945 to the late Walter and Twila June (Heitzenrater) Rankin. Preceded in death by brother, Everett Rankin. Survived by children, Ronald J. Rhoades Jr.; Janice Renee Arendas; Joyce Ann Courtney married to Jeffrey; Rhonda Lee Campbell married to Rodney Paul; Bobbie-Jo Claire Gilbert married to Steven; siblings, Alice Wagner; Walter Rankin; Phyllis Foreman; Diana Rager; Ardyth Reed; Richard Rankin; and Ginny Rankin; grandchildren, Jonathan, Brandon, Bradie, Heather, Anthony, Ashley, Sheena, Shawn, Shar-Dawn, Kevin, and Ryan; 12 great-grandchildren; and former husband and best friend, Robert A. Beam. In Elizabeth’s early years, she worked as a waitress at Sweet Williams and then at Valley Dairy. Later she worked as a CNA at Lee Hospital before retiring from Crichton Rehabilitation Center in the fall of 2011. Elizabeth was always caring for others, especially her mother. She loved playing bingo with friends, going to casinos with Bobbie-Jo, and watching the game show network. Elizabeth also enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family. She was a 1963 graduate of Central Cambria High School and completed her nursing assistance in March of 1979. Elizabeth was a previous member of Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church. Before her courageous battle with cancer, Elizabeth loved taking care of her great-grandson, Noah Jacob. Friends will be received Aug. 19 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude.
