Williams, Emma Jean, 83, Johnstown, passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of her family the morning of February 17, 2020. Born March 8, 1936, in Potters Mills (Centre County), daughter of the late Chester Dewey and Myrtle May (Johns) Knupp. Known throughout her life as E.J. or Jean. Preceded in death by brother, Thomas E. Knupp, Lancaster; sister, Margaret Stone and husband Melvin, Henderson KY; brothers and sisters in-law, Barbara and Patrick Gavin; Betty and Eldon Pittman, all of Johnstown; Theodore Williams, England; and nephews, Patrick Gavin Jr, Davidsville; and Dale Edward Knupp, Bellefonte. Survived by loving husband of 55 years, Ronald Marlin Williams; children, Susan Marie Miller and husband Roger, Creekside; Mark Theodore Williams; brothers, Richard Warren Knupp and wife Joann, Bellefonte; Harry Dale Knupp and wife Barb, State College; beloved grandchildren, Brandon William, Sarah Jean, and Logan Lamont Miller; Austin John Williams; Jessica Elizabeth-Clare Fuge; Brieann Nicole Dixon (Miller); great grandchildren, Gabriella, Ryder, and Ashton; sister-in-law, Lucille Knupp, Lancaster; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Born and raised in Potters Mills, Emma graduated in 1954 from Penns Valley High School. She came to Johnstown to attend Cambria Rowe Business School, where she graduated in 1956. She began working for Reese Electric as a secretary, where she met her husband, Ron, who she married September 18, 1964. She was a homemaker for many years and then worked as a receptionist for WCRO Radio Station, and then as a bank teller for Johnstown Bank and Trust, where she retired in 1997. Emma has been an active member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church since 1960. She belonged to United Methodist Woman, the choir, the food pantry, and was the treasure of the church for over 10 years. Emma was a member of a Pinochle Club for over 55 years and made and sold crafts with a longtime friend at the Log House Arts Festival in Westmont from the late 1970’s to the mid 1980’s. She had a passion for and was excellent at doing cross word puzzles and enjoyed reading, sewing, fishing, gardening, puzzles, making crafts, and was highly involved with her beloved Park Avenue United Methodist Church. Emma also enjoyed cooking, baking, and making homemade chocolate candy. She loved beach trips with her family to the Outer Banks, playing board and card games with her family, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. A heartfelt thank you to 365 Hospice for their invaluable care and support this past month (Amanda, Mary Ann, Janell, and Pastor Bob). Per Emma’s request, there will be no viewing. A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 700 Park Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15901. Pastor Len Findley presiding. A luncheon will be provided in the church dining hall following the service.
