Hajnik, Francis A., 89, Johnstown, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017 at The Lutheran Home, surrounded by loving family members. Born September 13, 1928 in Johnstown to the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Vasil) Hajnik.  Preceded in death by grandson, Evan Hajnik; brothers, Andrew, and John Hajnik; sisters, Irene (Krynowski) Ruis; Rosemary Bosselli; Margaret Brown. Survived by loving wife Mary Jane (Safko) Hajnik of Johnstown; children, David Hajnik and wife Deborah of Pittsburgh; Cynthia Shaffer and husband Wayne of Baltimore, MD; Thomas Hajnik of Baltimore, MD; Sister Eleanor Harpster of Georgia; 5 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews. Francis served in the Army Corp. of Engineers during The Korean War.  He was a member of many clubs’ and organizations through his life including the VFW, Elks, Brownstown Fire Company, Cape Hatteras Fishing Club, Cape Hatteras Beach Buggy Organization, and The International Union of Elevator Constructors.  He loved fishing for trout, surf fishing, going camping, and most of all spending time with his family.
