Burkardt, Francis “Bud” Edward, 93, died May 15, 2020 at LaurelWood Nursing Home.  Born September 7, 1926 in Johnstown.  Son of Francis and Ann (Denk) Burkardt.  Preceded in death by parents; wife, Marian (Vivian); sisters, Anna Marie Schropp, Ruth Riley, Martha Safko, and Thelma Drummond; brother, Thomas; and brothers-in-law, Robert Schropp, Clete Riley, Melvin Drummond, and James Kleinosky.  Survived by sisters, Florence Kleinosky, Magdalene married to Henry Bunk, and Delores Burkardt; brother, Joseph Burkardt married to Carol (Wakowski); brother-in-law, Frank Safko; special niece, Betty Jean Wissinger; and numerous other nieces and nephews.  He was retired from General Telephone Company after 42 years of service.  Francis was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.  He was a fan of the Pirates and Steelers.  He also enjoyed spending time with family and fishing.  Special thanks to Grane hospice and Amber Springs.  A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.  A private service will be held, Pastor Randy Eckman officiating.  Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com.
