Gibbons, Fred J. – 77, Hastings, passed away April 10, 2015, at Miners Hospital.
Born December 9, 1937 in Altoona; a son of the late Russell and Sophia (Doughtery) Gibbons. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn (Owens), his siblings Sonny, Louise, David, Donald, Loretta, Dorothy, and Ray. Survived by his children, son Chris and his wife Kelly, Hastings; daughter Renee Mikula and her husband David, Hastings; son Dwayne and his wife Cynthia, Texas; his grandchildren Christopher Zavada, Jonathan Gibbons, Alex Mikula, Nathan Gibbons, Savannah Lee, Jordan Gibbons, Brittany Gibbons, and Michael Gibbons; his brothers Patrick, Robert, James, and his sister Bernadette; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Fred served in the United States Air Force, and retired from Ebensburg Center where he worked as an Aide. He was a member of St Bernard Catholic Church. He was a member of the board of the Hastings Sewer Authority for several years, He was an avid reader, he enjoyed being a father, and a grandfather, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Sunday April 12, 2015 at the Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver Street, Hastings and from 10am until time of funeral mass at 11am on Monday April 13, 2015 at St Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Father Thaddeus Rettger Officiating. Interment at St. Bernard Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Hastings VFW Post #1586. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Bernard Church, 148 Beaver Street PO Box 497 Hastings, PA 16646.
