Obituary

Hawk, Gerald L. Sr., 85, Bedford, formerly of Johnstown, passed away July 20, 2020 at UPMC Shadyside. Born February 16, 1935 to the late Harold and Margaret (Hollister) Hawk. Preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret “Midge” Hawk, who passed away on May 29, 2020; and brothers, Donald, Lloyd, and Jack Hawk. Survived by son, Gerald L. Hawk Jr. and wife Joan, Bedford; and brother, Robert Hawk, FL. Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been employed at Swank Refractories and Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown. Gerald enjoyed hearing a good joke and was equally adept at telling them. His little pleasures were his morning cup of coffee, listening to classical music, and sitting on his porch, visiting with his neighbors and whoever else stopped by. Although he will be sadly missed by his family and friends, we take comfort in knowing that Gerald and his beloved “Midge” are together again. At Gerald’s request there will be no services.
