Barta, Gerry Dean, 69, Somerset, passed away January 5, 2022 at home. Born April 21, 1952 in Windber. Son of the late George A. and Minnie L. (Ernst) Barta. Preceded in death by brother, Frank. Survived by loving wife of 47 years, Cathy (Wyant) Barta; son, Bradley Barta (Chris), Somerset; daughters, Melissa Ansell (Shawn) and Brandy Coddington (Justin), both of Somerset; brothers, George (Betty) and Timothy (Carol); sister-in-law, Linda Barta; 6 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerry Proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and worked in the warehouse of Devilbiss, and Guy Chemical. He was a life member of the VFW Post 554 and was a 1971 Graduate of Shade High School. He loved hunting and the outdoors and was an avid Steelers fan. At the request of the family, services will be private.
