Obituary

Gardner, Harry Charles “Gus”, 88, Johnstown, passed away March 23, 2018. Born February 3, 1930 in Johnstown to the late Charles and Helen (West) Gardner. Preceded in death by wife of 55 years, Nancy (Felix) and sister, Ann Deater. Survived by children, Renee married to James Patrick, Craig married to Amanda (Boling), Carrie Ray; and grandchildren, Lauren and Sam Patrick, Seth and McKenna Ray, Harrison Gardner, and Thomas Melcher. Harry was a 1948 graduate of Westmont-Upper Yoder Highschool and a 1952 graduate of Gettysburg College. He worked briefly at Penelec where he met his wife, Nancy. Harry worked the majority of his career in the accounting office at Bethlehem Steel. He was a high school athlete and sports were a large part of his life. Harry could be found on the sidelines of most of the Westmont sporting events. He enjoyed many return trips to Gettysburg and numerous vacations to Myrtle Beach. He was a lifelong member of the Westmont Presbyterian Church, where a memorial service will be held April 14 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
