Brinker, Harry Ray, 97 of New Florence, died September 8, 2021, at The Lutheran Home at Johnstown. Born February 26, 1924, in Seward, Pa., son of the late Clarence C. and Bertha E. (Gray) Brinker. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Florence Karageanes, of New Florence. Survived by wife of 72 years, Ina L. (Currie) Brinker; son, Robert R. Brinker married to the former Jean Siciliano, Johnstown; grandsons, Matthew; and Michael married to Karen (Baer); and great granddaughter, Jenna. Harry served in World War II in the Navy Air Corp between August 1943 and December 1945. He served as a gunner on a TBF Avenger torpedo-bomber with Torpedo Squadron VTN-53 on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga off the island of Iwo Jima. Harry retired from the former Johnstown Bank and Trust Company as Purchasing Officer. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of New Florence, F&AM Lodge 355 in Blairsville, Pa., New Florence Lions Club, New Florence V.F.W., and New Florence American Legion. There will be no viewing. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Florence Library.
