Burkholder, Hazel M., 90, passed away November 20, 2018. Born April 25, 1928 in Johnstown, to the late Joseph and Emma Jane (Williamson) Parke. Hazel graduated in 1946 from Johnstown High School. She was active in local and district BPW, United Methodist Women, and Lions Club. Hazel was very proud to be honored by BPW and United Methodist Women as “Woman of the Year.” She was preceded in death by husband, Robert D. Burkholder; sisters, Jane Ashbrook; Lois Thomas; and brothers, Robert, Bill, Don, Warren, Carl, Glen, and Roy. Hazel was the last of her immediate family. Survived by daughter, Barbara Freeman, Johnstown; grandchildren, Brian (Kim), Washington PA; Melanie (Ken); Ashley (Robb), Johnstown; great grandson, Isiah; nephews, Thomas Parke (Sherry), Bowling Green VA; Kenny Thomas (Hazel), Waterford PA; nieces, Betty Parke, Johnstown; Janet Finch (Steve), Quakertown PA; and many other nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday December 1st at First United Methodist Church in Johnstown, where she was active for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
