Obituary

Zelek, Helen P., 91, Johnstown, died Dec. 24, 2017 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born Jan. 15, 1926 to the late George and Antionette (Waligora) Stralko. Preceded in death by husband, Walter Zelek Sr.; and siblings, Walter; Steve: Joseph: John; and Mary Dziolowski. Survived by children, Walter S. Zelek Jr. and wife Karen.; Suzanne Pietron wife of late Richard Pietron; grandchildren, Faith, Scott, Kurtis, Richard and wife Cassie, and Matthew, who was Grandma’s buddy. Also survived by great grandchildren, Tyler, Blake, Caleb; sisters, Bernice Howard, East McKeesport; Florence Grove, Richland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was employed by Conemaugh Valley School District as a teacher’s aide. She was very religious and belonged to the St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Bon Air. Helen was an avid Wheel of Fortune watcher. She always loved being with her family and making pigs in a blanket and pierogies for them. Friends will be received Thurs. Dec. 28 from 4-6 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., where a service will be held Fri. Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Interim Hospice.
