Rager, Herbert P., 83, Johnstown, died March 3, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Nov. 21, 1932, in Johnstown, son of Herbert N. Rager and Nona (Orner) Rager. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Clair and Glenn; and infant sister, Catherine. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Donna J. (Naugle) Rager; children, Keith, married to Kerry (Frazer), Windber; Craig, Newport Beach, Calif.; Kimberly, married to Keith Wetzel, Harrisburg; and Curtis, married to Jennifer (Odenthal), York; grandchildren, Eric; Matthew; Petty Officer 2nd Class Leah; Zach of Euless, Texas; Sarah, married to Shawn Swope; Heather; Ella; Jakob; and Ty; and great-grandchildren, Peyton and Landon Swope. Herb was a Navy reservist and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany. As a youth, he delivered the local paper. He worked as a rigger at Bethlehem Steel Co. and taxi cab driver while at college. He attended UPJ pre-med then graduated from Virginia Medical College in physical therapy. Retired as a physical therapist from Conemaugh Memorial Hospital and Somerset State Hospital, as well as working for numerous local home nursing agency. Herb was an avid photographer who developed film in his darkroom. Original member of Albright United Methodist Church, Cooper Avenue; and was an active and faithful member for the past 47 years of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee, deacon and member of the adult choir. Herb enjoyed performing faith-based magic shows for church, civic, and school organizations. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling various places, especially sea shell hunting at Sunset Beach. Friends received from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, and also Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until time of memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Kirk Rowland, officiating.
