George, Homer (Jim) J., 73, Salix went to be with the Lord July 1, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.

Born August 22, 1940, in Johnstown; he was the son of the late Homer C. Jr. and Gladys M. (Rowe) George.

Preceded in death by his sister, Mary Beth George.

Survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty L. (Lane) George; children, Tammy L. Kuhn and husband Scott, Sidman, Tracey L. George, Salix, Bradley J. George and companion Amy Howell, Ferndale; grandchildren, Austin and Colt Kuhn; David, Christine, and Hanna Reger; Julie, Alex, and Emili George and an additional grandson is expected to arrive in October. Also a niece, Jennifer Hill, North Carolina.

Mr. George was the owner of the Homer J. George Funeral Home in South Fork and Salix. He began his career in funeral service in 1969 and retired in 2009. He was a member of the Crossroads Alliance Church in Ebensburg, a lifetime member of the South Fork Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Cambria Lodge 278 F &AM, the Dunlo American Legion Post 573 and a past member of Somerset County Funeral Directors Association. Mr. George served in the US Army stationed in Korea.

Friends will be received at Crossroads Alliance Church, 1296 N Center St, Ebensburg, PA 15931 on Sunday July 13 from 2 to 4pm where a funeral service will follow at 4 pm with Pastor Kevin Stock, officiating.
