Smithson, Irene L., 94, Johnstown, died May 30, 2015, at Rosewood Personal Care Home. Born Nov. 14, 1920, in Clymer, to the late Rudolph and Lillian (Phillips) Fetters. Preceded in death by her first husband, William Walker; brothers, Ralph and William Fetters; stepson, Myrl “Butch”; and two infant grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Myrl; children, William (Alicia) Walker, Latrobe; Judith (EJ Shearer) Bernat, Johnstown; and James (Judith) Walker, Nanty Glo; stepchildren, John (Linda) Smithson, Virginia; and Francis (Gary) Keller, Virginia; nine grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Louise Walker and Norma Moody; and brother-in-law, Ron (Lois) Walker. Irene retired from Bestform as a time worker. She was a member of Nanty Glo United Methodist Church, Pleasant Valley Golf Course for 20 years, VFW Post 3489 Ladies Auxiliary and a former treasurer of the Brownstown Volunteer Fire Company. At her request, there will be no viewing. Friends and family are requested for a graveside services at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Belsano United Brethren Cemetery, Pastor Stephen Durr, officiating.
