Davitch, James, 73, Johnstown, peacefully passed on July 23, 2018 at Amber Hills in Ebensburg. Preceded in death by parents, Michael and Louise (Greecher) Davitch. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane (Dehlinger); sons, William (Paula), and Michael (Erika); and three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Evan, and Peyton. Also survived by his devoted brother, Jerry (Terry); and nephews, Jim (Mindy) and Jerry (Lisa). Jim moved to Tucson, AZ in 1962 and graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1964. He excelled in football and wrestling and was named Salpointe’s first All-American in football and was later inducted into Salpointe’s Hall of Fame. In Jim’s senior year he was selected as one of the Captains of the Arizona All-State football team. Jim was employed by Anaconda, later Anamax Mining Company as a heavy equipment operator until 1979 when he moved his family back to Johnstown. Upon his return to Johnstown, he was employed by Penelec until his retirement in 2002. Jim was extremely proud of his sons and their accomplishments and dearly loved his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and was adept at repairs of all kinds. We wish to thank our family, dear friends and neighbors for their support during Jim’s battle with Alzheimer’s. Our sincere appreciation to Amber Hills compassionate staff and Asera Care Hospice for their dedicated and caring attention during this difficult time.
