Castania, James F. (Jim), 73, Johnstown, passed away June 11, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 5, 1947 to the late Giuseppe and Frances (Rocco) Castania. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Frances Noon; brother, Edward Castania. Survived by wife of 51 years,  Sharon L. (Lehman) Castania; son, Michael J. Castania; daughter, Amy M. Horwath and her husband Gerald; grandchildren, Jake, Julia, and Sophia Horwath; Sister-in-law, Betty L. Castania; nieces, Patricia Noon, Sharon (Noon) Knepper (Edward), Susan (Castania) Metelsky (Dan); nephew, Joseph Castania (Connie Heckman); and many great nieces and nephews.  Jim graduated from Johnstown High School, class of 65’, he was retired from Giant Eagle where he worked as a Baker. Jim spent many years working for the former U.S. Steel.  Jim was a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved the Pirates and the Pens.  Jim dedicated many years to his love of coaching Little League baseball, he enjoyed playing cards, and watching old game shows.  Jim’s most cherished time spent was cooking family dinners, above all spaghetti dinners on Sundays, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday, June 15, 2020 from 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with a Vigil Service at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford St. Johnstown, PA 15904. Rev. David S. Peles, officiating, followed by a private graveside service for family.
