McDonald, James William, 83, Johnstown, originally from Nanty Glo, went home to be with the Lord May 9, 2017. Born May 2, 1934 to the late Dennis and Mary (Simmers) McDonald. Preceded in death by brothers, Dennis J.; and Ronald R. McDonald; nephew, Richard J. McDonald; and niece, Rhonda S. Hill. Survived by loving wife, Diane “Dee Dee” (Ickes Strayer); son, Jeffrey James Burkhart and wife Holly, CA; step daughter, Laura Strayer; granddaughter, Callan Burkhart, CA; nieces, Denise Molinich; Kim George; great nephew, Austin Molinich; sisters-in-law, Jean Litzsky; Carol and Rita McDonald; brothers-in-law, Terry and David Ickes; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Ed and Elly Brushko. Jim was a Koren War Vet in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a guidance counselor from Bellefonte High School. Throughout Jim’s life he studied at many different universities, obtaining degrees from Penn State, St. Louis University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, St. Francis of Assisi College, and U.S.A.F. Jim was very active, working out at least five days a week. He enjoyed shooting pool and spending time with his family. Friends will be received Mon.
