Carney, Janet L. (Shugars), 83, Johnstown, passed away April 15, 2017 at her home. Born Nov. 19, 1933 to the late Nathaniel and Gladys (Miller) Shugars. Janet was the last surviving member of her family. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Bill” Carney. Survived by daughters, Kim Baker married to Ron; Charnet Koch married to Tom; Nancy Fecko married to Joe; grandchildren, Aaron, Joy, Tom, Tracy, Melanie, Ben, Dan, and Sara; great grandchildren, Kayle, Haidyn, Amilyah, Rayna, DJ, Harry, Charlie, Hannah, Jack, and Violet; and sister-in-law, Jane Shugars. Janet was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and West End Lions. She was known as GeeGee to the hundreds of children she lovingly cared for at Little People Learning Center. Janet’s family would like to thank Heritage Hospice and the staff at Conemaugh Cancer Center for all the tender love and care they gave Janet. Friends will be received Thurs. April 20 from 3-7 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 146 Chandler Ave., where the West End Lions will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Fri. at the funeral home.
