Obituary

Murphy, Jerry L., 73 Westmont and Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully October 22, 2014 at home. Born June 17, 1941 in Scalp Level, PA, he was a son of Homer & Mary (Wagner) Murphy. Preceded in death by parents, sisters, Janet Murphy & Harriet Berkey. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Judith (Stephenson) Murphy, a daughter, Christine Avila-Smith and husband, Brian; abgrandson, Brandon E. Avila, both of Rochester, NY, a brother, J. Edward Murphy and wife Ethel, Old Bridge, NJ; brothers-in-law, George Stephenson, Granbury, TX. and Frank Berkey, Punta Gorda, FL. Retired supervisor at Memorial Medical Center, former tax collector of Paint Borough 1970-1986, & life long self employed painter. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. At Jerry’s request there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date.  The family suggests memorial donations to Conemaugh Hospice, Conemaugh Cancer Center or the charity of your choice.
