Obituary

Martin, Joanne “Joan” Rosemarie, 94, Johnstown, passed away January 19, 2022 at Westmont Woods. Born April 13, 1927. Daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Novak) Kendera. Preceded in death by husband, David D. Martin; and brothers, John, Steven, Joseph, and infant brother, Andy. Survived by son, Daniel Martin. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating, dancing, and singing in her church choir when she was in school. Joan was a 1945 graduate of Johnstown High School. She also always enjoyed listening to Polka music. She was an honest and hardworking person, working at Kartley Sewing Factory and also being a former Dental Hygienist. Before retiring she was housekeeper and caregiver. She was very kindhearted and would go out of her way to help people, with her beautiful smile and warm personality. Joan was a good mother, daughter, and friend who loved animals. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., Johnstown, PA 15906. A mass will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, 117 Clinton St., Johnstown, PA 15901, Very Rev. Matthew Baum officiating.
