Killian, John J. Sr., “Big John”, 68, New Paris, died October 25, 2016 at UPMC Altoona.  Born April 9, 1948 in Johnstown; son of Frederick “Fritz” and Marie (Koenig) Killian.  Preceded in death by parents; and wife, Barbara A. (McFeaters) Killian.  Survived by son, John J. Killian Jr. and wife, Nicole, Johnstown; and numerous cousins and extended family members.  John was a 1966 graduate of Bishop McCort High School and a member of the Bedford American Legion.  He was an Army Veteran serving with the 1st Calvary Division during the Vietnam War, in which he earned a Purple Heart.  He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. as an overhead crane operator.  John enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and riding his tractor.  He loved his beer and wine and spending time with friends and family. Friends received Friday, Oct. 28th from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc.  1521 Frankstown Rd., Nancy Hoover, officiating.  Committal Forest Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
