Bearer, Joseph L. – 72, Carrolltown, earned his angel wings on Wednesday August, 5, 2020.  Born March 2, 1948 to the late Reginald and Delrose Bearer.  Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Regis and Kenneth.  Survived by his wife Elizabeth (Blick); children, Kelly Bearer Cunningham, Carrolltown; Brian Bearer (Jeanette), Latrobe; grandchildren, Levi Firm, Joseph Bearer, Isabella Bearer, and Cody Nelson; great-grandchildren, Ace and Cadence Nelson; his twin sister Joan Sheftic, Ebensburg; his sister Betty Mihalik, Perry, OH; as well as numerous other members of extended family.  Joe was a graduate of Cambria Heights High School class of 1966.  He proudly served his country as a SGT E5 in the United States Army, 11th Armored Calvary Regiment (Blackhorse) as a squad leader and track commander during the Vietnam War, in which he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal.  He was retired from E.P. Bender Coal Company Inc. where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Joe was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman and enjoyed riding his Harley and playing golf.  His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, always making it a point to not miss any events they were involved in.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Carrolltown American Legion Post 506, past Post Commander and lifetime member of the St. Benedict V.F.W Ream-Miller Post 7783, lifetime member of the Carrolltown Rod & Gun Club, and a member of the Bakerton Rod and Gun Club.  Joseph will always be remembered for his dedication to his family, his willingness to help anyone, spending time outdoors, and for the great pride he took in keeping his yard and vehicles in pristine condition.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  Friends and family will be received at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home from 12 PM to 2 PM on Friday August 14, 2020.  A memorial mass with military honors will be held privately for the immediate family following visitation.
