Novak, Joseph R.,77, Johnstown, was called home to be with our Lord on May 17, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 21, 1940 in Johnstown, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Pavlik) Novak.  Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kathi Jo Novak; his sister Margaret Rzasa; and his brother William Novak. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathi Ellen (Newcomer); daughter Tricia Lynn Rygel and her husband Ron, Johnstown; daughter Janel Marie Novak and her fiancée Daniel Caro; Johnstown; son Joseph Novak and his wife Krystal, Pittsburgh; his grandchildren, Ty Joseph Rygel, Mason Scott Rygel, Jolee Marilyn Rygel, Ella Lynn Novak, and Ava Grace Novak; his siblings, Helen Yuhas, Johnstown; and John Novak, Johnstown; Joseph is also survived by other members and his extended family including numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was retired from Bethlehem Steel where he worked in the Car Shop, he was also a former contractor, and President of Novak Realty, LLC. Joseph was devoted to God, his family, and his friends; and he touched the lives of everyone he met. Joseph enjoyed time with his family at church, traveling with family, game nights, landscaping, camping, cooking, and playing music with the Hangmen band. Joseph was a very giving individual, he contributed both physically and financially at every opportunity to support his family, the church, veterans, children, animals, and countless other charities, and anyone he found in need. Friends and family will be received on Sunday May 20, 2018, from 2 pm to 6 pm at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, Johnstown. And again on Monday May 21, 2018 at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road, Johnstown, PA 15904 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am. Pastor Jim Gay, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joseph’s memory to Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc.
