McGiboney Joyce Obit Pic

McGiboney, Joyce Ann,

Michael and Ada May (Diehl) Flango welcomed their first of six children on Sept 2, 1951. Calling Ramey Pa their home, Joyce graduated from Moshannon Valley High School in 1969 and started working for her father at Flango Motors. She then furthered her education at the Altoona Business School and soon became the Senior Accountant at Proctor Silex. During her time working and living in Altoona, she met her musically talented Larry, and suddenly all of his playing was only for her. They were married in 1982,on a beautiful warm New Years Eve Day, at Our Lady of the Lourdes, in Altoona PA. Joyce had many hats throughout her life; she worked and volunteered for many different community and church organizations, but her most important job was raising her two beautiful daughters, Melissa Barnes(Shawn), of Windber and Leanna, at home. In 2007, her title changed from Mom to Grammy and a new adventure began with Christopher, Nicholas, and ToriLynn Barnes, who were the center of her universe. She spent many years researching and collecting family history. If you ever had a question of who any relative was, Joyce was the one to ask. Family meant everything to her, and she meant everything to her family. Her brothers Ed (Cindy), Tom (Brenda), David, and Steve were always by her side; her and sister Linda had a bond like no other. Numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins fill her family tree, as her memory will always fill their hearts. She was welcomed and lovingly greeted into heaven on Sunday November 19th 2017, by her husband Larry, Dad Mike, Granddaughter Victoria, and Father-in-law Mac. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal”; By request of the family, there will be no viewing. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Sat. Nov 25th at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Windber, PA. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Joyce’s memory to The Larry J McGiboney Music Scholarship Fund: Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, 116 Market Street, Suite 4, Johnstown, Pa 15901. (Online Donations: cfalleghenies.org/cfa-funds/larry- j-mcgiboney- music-scholarship- fund).
