Mardis, Judith Ann, 82, of Johnstown, passed away on October 14, 2023, at home with her loving family at her bedside. Born March 31, 1941, daughter of the late Alfred and Nora (Burkett) Cekella. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Larry Cekella; and sisters, Ardell Horner and Joyce Pfarr. Survived by loving husband of 63 years, Samuel Reed Mardis; sons, Samuel Reed Mardis Jr. and wife Janet; Scott Roy Mardis and wife Pam; daughter, Sheri Elaine Dailey and husband John; grandchildren; Jessica Bennett and husband Michael; Ashley Ward and husband Eric; Boyd Mardis; Katrina Hale and husband Adam; Cassandra Dorchak and husband Michael; and great-grandchildren, Reagan, Dylan, Kennedy, Brooklyn, Asher, Scarlett, Ryder, Willow, and Kayla. Judith loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed a variety of family trips, from camping at the family cottage to relaxing at the beach in Nags Head, North Carolina. Judith was an active member of Summit Chapel Church where she participated in many activities and loved her church family. Judith loved frogs, going out to eat, swimming in her pool, attending basket parties, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. Most of her time was spent cooking and baking all of the family’s favorites. Judith never missed any of her grandchildren’s events, she was their number one fan. She will be deeply missed by those in her life. Family will receive friends Wednesday October 18th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Summit Chapel Church. Pastor John Weaver, officiating. Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery. Donations in Judith’s honor may be made to Summit Chapel Church.
