Taylor, Kenneth H., Sergeant First Class, RET. U.S. Army, 73, Dale Borough, Johnstown, formerly of Barnesboro, went to be with the Lord September 30, 2019. Born February 15, 1946 in Spangler, he was the 3rd child of 4 born to Harold S. and Dorothy W. (Rounsley) Taylor of Barnesboro. Preceded in death by parents, Dorothy and Harold Taylor; and brothers, James E. Taylor and Paul D. Taylor. He graduated from Northern Cambria High School in 1964 and attended George Hyde School of Radio & Television Arts in Meadville, PA from 1964-65. He entered the Air Force in 1966, serving with the 377 Combat Support Group, 7th AF Combat News Section to Ton Son Nhut, Vietnam, until 1969. Upon returning to Orlando, FL, he met and married his wife Robyn J. Barlow in December 1970. He entered the U.S. Army, and continued to serve his country until his retirement in September 1999 in York, PA. When all was said and done, he had served his country for 33 years, and was very proud of his accomplishments, as was his family. After retiring, he and the family moved back to the area where he had been born and raised, settling in Johnstown. He went to work and also retired from the National Park Service in St. Michaels, PA. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving wife & best friend, Robyn J. (Barlow) Taylor; daughter, Michelle L. Taylor, of Johnstown; son, Kenneth H. Taylor II and fiancée, Toni Marie Weeks of Johnstown; daughter, Megan L. Taylor of Johnstown; daughter, Rachel A. Taylor-Williams and husband, Michael Williams of York, PA; loving grandchildren, Mackenzie of Johnstown, Sierra of York, Savannah and Arianna of Johnstown; Ella and Olivia of York. He is also survived by brother, Joseph P. Taylor and wife, Cathy of Northern Cambria. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Johnstown. He was a 32nd degree Ancient Accepted Mason at E.J. Knox King Solomon Lodge 130, Meridian, MS, and also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonary, Blue Lodge in Valley of Altoona, PA. He was also a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Barnesboro and former Barnesboro American Legion Post Commander, and member of the American Legion, Richland. Former Councilman in West York, PA and in Dale Borough; former member of Hope Fire Co. in Barnesboro and member of Dale Fire Co. He was also a member of the Dale Fire Club, Turners Social Club, the Harmony Singing Society, and the Son’s of Italy, where he spent many afternoons telling jokes and laughing with fellow comrades and friends. He favorite line was, “Don’t do it if it’s no fun, but if you do it, don’t get caught!”. He requested that if you were told a joke you really liked, write it down and bring it to share with others! Special thanks to Conemaugh Hospice, the Altoona VA home nursing program and family and friends taking part in his care. Family and friends will be received on Sunday October 6th, 2019 from 4 to 7 PM, at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, 334 Southmont Blvd, Johnstown, PA 15905. The funeral service will be Monday October 7, 2019 at 11 am, at the church as well, with Fr. Doug Blakelock officiating. There will be a luncheon to follow in the church social hall.
