Rose, Mabel Leona (Bush), 98, Johnstown, went to her heavenly home on April 17, 2016. There she was greeted by her parents, Oscar and Effie (St Clair) Bush; husband, Orrie L. Rose; son, Eugene Carl Rose; grandson, David Rose; and son-in-law, James E. McKendree. Born Oct. 23, 1917. Mabel was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by siblings, Ethel, Erma, Florence, Clifford, Elmer, Crawford, Paul, Edith, Norma, and Carl. Survived by daughter, Lois McKendree; grandsons, James McKendree Jr., (Angela); Scott Keeney; Jeffrey McKendree, (Sarah); Benn Keeney; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Eryn, Alexis, Caitlyn, Delaney, and Edward, in addition to others; and sister-in-law, Ada Goughnour. Mabel was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, of which she was the oldest living member. She taught Sunday school, was a Girl Scout leader, and a member of the Middle Taylor Twp. Ladies Auxiliary. Mabel was known for her baking skills. Her specialties were pumpkin gobs, sugar cookies, tea-time tassies, and pies. Mabel always made sure visitors had an abundant variety of food to eat. You never left her home hungry. She always had a smile on her face. There is nothing like a bond that a mom and daughter share. The way it grows and changes over time. How is connects and shapes both of their lives. It’s unlike anything in the world and that’s something really special. “Mom, you were a gift from God and your memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved you.” Special thanks to the staff at the Lutheran Home for all of the care they gave Mabel. Friends will be received Wed. Apr. 20 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. Pastor Rob Wolf, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren building fund. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
