Marcella Huet, age 98, passed into eternal life May 12,2023 at Arbutus Manor accompanied by family. Born January 23,1925 to the late Harold and Catharine Long. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, siblings James, Virginia and Cyril.

She is survived by her children Catharine Sherer (Timothy), Ruth Huet, Denise Southard, and Fred Huet Jr. (Kim); grandchildren Crystal, Nathanael (Runa), Jonathan, Katie (Steve), and Eric (Colleen); and six great grandchildren.

Marcella supported WWII efforts working as a radio electronics technician for Bendix at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River. She loved math and to research history, was an excellent seamstress designing costumes for church productions, quilted numerous quilts shared with extended family and was proud to participate in a quilting bee that created an original Bicentennial quilt requested by local leaders. She enjoyed being outdoors digging in the dirt and carrying stones to landscape the yard and work in her flower and vegetable gardens. There was never a flower she didn’t like and in some cases what might be considered a weed.  She was an excellent cook often trying new recipes to the delight of her family. Her Sunday and holiday meals were often cooked in the middle of the night followed by, “it doesn’t look like we have anything to eat”. Meanwhile dishes were about to flow off the table. Marcella and Fred made a great team. They were actively involved in their children’s lives supporting them with time and encouragement both in their youth and as adults. Marcella also taught Sunday school and enjoyed traveling, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
