Allen, Margaret J. (Sherron), 79, Johnstown, died October 20, 2015. Born December 12, 1935 in Pottersdale County to the late Samuel and Rachael (Elms) Sherron. Preceded in death by brothers, William R. and Samuel J. Sherron; and sister, Rachael E. Hildebrand. Survived by loving husband, Herbert V. Allen Jr.; brothers, Anthony C. Sherron and Thomas E. Ciranni; sisters, Barbara Lodolinski; Carol Wolfe; children, Jeffrey J. Allen, (Janet), Johnstown, PA; Kimberly J. Riek, (Butch), Johnstown, PA; Susan E. Hambright, (Rick), Frisco TX; and seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Riek) Hill, (Alvin); Sean Riek; Katie, Julia, and Nathan Hambright; and Gloria and Michael Hockins. Margaret (Margie/Joyce) was a 1954 graduate of Central Cambria High School, Ebensburg, PA and a 1957 graduate of Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She married Dr. Herbert Allen and spent two years in California before settling down in Johnstown. Her husband was a medical practitioner for 32 years and was loved by his patients. Margie devoted her life to the Lord and continued to serve the Lord in Christian ministry and was very active at the Oakland United Methodist Church. She visited the sick every Monday at the hospitals and prayed for their healing and shared her faith. She was an avid tennis player and played in many tennis tournaments through the years and had been active with USTA. Margie enjoyed playing bridge and other hobbies like sewing, crocheting, and jewelry making. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved shopping with them. Margie also baked them many “goodies.” Holidays were a special time for family gatherings. Her favorite hymns were: “In the Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross”, Scripture: Psalm 91 and the song, “I Can Only Imagine.” At Margie’s request there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 24 at the Oakland United Methodist Church, 1504 Bedford St. Johnstown, PA 15902. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church, Johnstown. “Celebrate my life, do not mourn my death, for in death I have eternal life.
