Obituary

Progar, Marion T., 92, South Fork, passed peacefully on August 19, 2024, at the Rose of Sharon Personal Care home. She was born in Cassandra, on March 30, 1932, the daughter of John and Mary Beck. She married the love of her life, Edward Joseph Progar from St. Michael PA. Preceded in death by her husband and brothers, Jack and Bill. Survived by her brother, Francis and sister Betty. Marion was known for her unconditional love and admired by her many friends and her sons with their families. She was adored by her eight grandchildren who blessed her with seven great-grandchildren. Dan was the oldest with his three children, Dana (husband Brian and their children Cambria and Bennett), Nicole (husband John and their children Dillon and Caleb) and Nathan (wife Megan and their children, Rowan and Allison). Phil was next (wife Kathy who passed in 2022) with his children Josh (wife Emma) and Jenae. Jim follows with his wife Layne and his daughter Amanda. Mike completed the foursome with his wife Stacey and their children Abby (husband Jeff and their child Bradley with another coming in October) and Brianna.

Marion was an overcomer of life’s hurdles which shaped who she was. She never complained, gave generously and lived life to the fullest. She was a homemaker at heart, working a few jobs when needed. She loved people, enjoying whoever crossed her path. Marion had a cliché for every occasion, most which supported her life wisdom. She taught her family to own their own happiness. She was sought out as a seasoned listener who extended grace to any situation.

Special thanks to her niece, Rosemond Myers, for her companionship and support in Marion’s later years. A multitude of thanks to the staff at both, AseraCare Hospice and the Rose of Sharon Personal Care Home. Their slogan was ‘Looks Like Home, Feels Like Home, It Is Home’, it is truly their calling. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation be made to the Rose of Sharon Personal Care Home, PO Box 336, St. Michael, PA 15951. On Saturday, September 14 from 1 to 3 pm, the family will host a Celebration of Life for Marion. It will be hosted at Hindman Funeral Home (1521 Frankstown Road Johnstown PA).
