Obituary
Jakab, Mark M., 51, Johnstown, died Nov. 8, 2015 at his home. Born October 3, 1964 to Janet (Pundzak) Zahoran and Robert Jakab. Survived by mother, Janet (Pundzak) Zahoran, and husband Mike; father Robert Jakab, and wife Candy; children, Edward, Victoria, and Charles Jakab; brother, John; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and Mark’s military family. Mark retired in 2003 from active service in the U.S. Military after serving 4 years in the Marines and 16 years in the Navy. He was faithfully and honorably retired in 2012 from the Navy after ten years of inactive service. During his time in the military, Mark visited 25 countries, went to the Louvre, visited the Roman Coliseum, attended church services with Pope John Paul II, and dined with medal-of-honor recipient, General Ray Davies. Mark loved his life in the service and did his best work while serving his country. His achievements and medals during his military time consisted of, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), Meritorious Unit Commendation (3), Navy “E” Ribbon (3), Good Conduct Award (4), National Defense Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Award, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3), and Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia). Mark was also an avid reader and loved to be in nature while at the ocean or camping with friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
