Stiffler, Melvin D., 83, Hastings, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Hillview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born on June 25, 1935 in Nanty Glo, the son of Edward  and Fannie (Dunlap) Stiffler.He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Becky, Earl “Buke”, Harry “Snuff”, John “Rocky”, Carl “Slim”, Eugene “Chine”, Grant “Noke”, and Betty. Melvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edna Mae (Becker); his children; David Stiffler (Jean), Baltimore; Chris Stiffler (Alice), Baltimore; his grandchildren, Jenny, Josh, John, Chelsey; his great granddaughter Charlotte “Charlee”; and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Melvin served our country in the United States Navy, and was stationed in the Mediterranean, during the war in Korea. Melvin loved fishing, hunting, playing cards. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and he enjoyed spending time with his family. Friends and family will be received from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday September 20 at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home in Hastings, and again on Friday September 20 at St. Bernard Catholic Church at 10 am until time of Mass at 11 am. Father Thaddeus Rettger OSB, officiating.  Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike Cold Spring, KY 41076. Military honors will be provided by Hastings VFW Post 1586.
