81, Hastings, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at Haida Manor surrounded by his family. Born July 7, 1935, in Spangler; he was a son of the late Michael R. and Susan (Fiasco) Cavallo. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Victoria J. (Riva) whom he married on September 19, 1966; his siblings, Joseph, Patrick, Henry, William, John, Theresa Haluska, and Mary Kopera. Survived by his children, Lisa (Dennis) Warner, Kevin “Hornet” and Fiancee Stefanie, Karen Cavallo (Ray Clossin) all of Hastings, Michael (Jackie), Northern Cambria, grandchildren, Karley, Deanna, Olivia, Zachary, Victoria, Evan and Kaylyn; his sister Helen Cavallo, Ebensburg; his sister-in-law Delores Cavallo; his brother-in-law Urban Kopera; and many nieces and nephews. Michael served our country in the United States Air Force, and was a Retired Store Manager for both A&P and Giant Eagle. He was a social member of the Hastings Moose, a life member of the Hastings Fire Club, as well as a life member of the Hastings VFW Post #1586. He was a former member of the Hastings Volunteer Fire Company Station #55. He enjoyed hunting with friends and family at Kerrmoor camp, playing cards, spending time with his family whom he was a devoted husband, father, and “Pappy”. Friends received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hastings. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Father Thaddeus Rettger OSB officiating. Interment at St. Bernard Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Hastings VFW Post #1586.
