Smithson, Myrl, 97, Johnstown, died Oct. 30, 2016 at St. Jude’s Haven. Born Nov. 2, 1918 to the late Quilley Roy and Frances (Laures) Smithson. Preceded in death by first wife, Olga (Koba) Smithson; second wife, Irene L. (Walker) Smithson; son, Myrl “Butch”; brothers, Garnet and Roy; and sister, Mildred. Survived by son, John Smithson married to Linda Mountain, Mechanicsville VA; daughter, Frances married to Gary Keller, Suffolk VA; step-daughter, Judith Ann Bernat and companion, EJ Shearer, Johnstown; step-sons, William Walker married to Alicia, Latrobe; James Walker married to Judith, Nanty Glo; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren; and 2 step-great great grandchildren. Myrl was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Motor Freight Teamsters 110. He was a member of Brownstown Fire Co. and a former member of the Pleasant Valley Golf Course.
